When it comes to MAC, I could count on one hand how many products I haven’t tried. I’ve been working with the brand for almost a year now, and in that time I’ve tested nearly every product available in store. I didn’t realise how difficult it would be to whittle down my favourites to a mere 10, but I got there! (Because I’ve already done a post on skin care which include my favourite MAC products, I’m not going to include those products here too. These are purely my favorite makeup products that I reach for on a regular basis!)

For those of you who aren’t aware, MAC offer a service called ‘Back To MAC’ which is where you can bring back 6 of your empty MAC products (eg. empty foundation bottles, powder compacts, lipsticks, etc., pretty much anything that isn’t a pared down lip pencil or eyeliner. It has to be a product with physical packaging) into any MAC counter to receive a free lipstick of your choice from the full range (excluding the Viva Glam Collection and any limited edition lipsticks in store at the time)! All returned empty products are then recycled by MAC.

 Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

(€32.00)

This is by far my favourite foundation. It’s medium to full buildable coverage with a natural matte finish that lasts all day, and doesn’t set straight away so it gives me time to blend it into my skin before setting! It also has oil control properties so I’ve recently ventured to not setting my foundation and I’ve been loving it! There is such an extensive shade range to choose from too, a total of 64 shades to be exact! NC10 matches my natural skin tone, but sometimes I reach for NC15 if I want to add a little more colour to my face. If I’m wearing tan (which isn’t often, I’ll be honest) I always opt for NC37 and sometimes mix it with one of the lighter shades I own, depending on how developed or worn my tan is at the time. I would definitely call this a top-up-friendly foundation – it easily blends in with what you’re already wearing, but I don’t find myself reaching for it during the day unless my skin is a little on the oilier side.

This product works well with : Strobe Cream and Prep+Prime Natural Radiance Primer.

Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation

(€36.50)

I couldn’t write this list without including this beautiful foundation! Depending on how my skin is, I often wear this if I’m looking for a dewier finish than what I get with Studio Fix Fluid. Just like Studio Fix Fluid it’s medium to full coverage, but is also water-resistant while providing my skin with hydration. It’s extremely easy to build, and is top-up-friendly too as it doesn’t set down fully! I absolutely love this product for how it wears throughout the day, and I’m yet to come across another foundation that gives me the same coverage and finish that lasts just as long!

This product works well with : Studio Moisture Cream and Prep+Prime Skin Base Primer.

Give Me Sun! Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder

(€31.50)

This. This is my holy grail. I use it as my bronzing powder ALWAYS, regardless of if I’m wearing my foundation in shade NC10, NC15 or NC37. It’s so easy to build and deepen, depending on how much product you use. I also use this most days as an eye shadow too! It’s such an easy powder to blend and also works quite well as a transition shade if you’re looking for something to blend a darker smokey eye out with! This is definitely a product I’d be lost without.

This product works well with : Springsheen Powder Blush (face) and Extended Play Perm Me Up Lash Mascara (eyes).

Honey Love Matte Lipstick

(€20.00)

To me, this is MAC’s most beautiful nude shade. Although it’s a matte finish, it’s not drying on the lips because of the gorgeous rich consistency, and wears off nicely throughout the day. I always reach for this when I’m looking for a lipstick to pair with a more dramatic eye look, or if I’m going for a more natural lip.

This product works well with : Stripdown Lip Pencil or Spice Lip Pencil.

Quite The Standout Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick

(€22.00)

I absolutely love this lip colour for the warmer and sunnier months! It’s a stunning orange-red shade, and because of its matte liquid formula, it dries down completely so doesn’t budge for hours on end! This range is also a plus for outdoor events because it doesn’t stick to stray hairs blowing in the wind like a gloss would. Because it’s the most drying formula of MAC’s lipsticks, I always pair it with Prep+Prime Lip Primer to keep my lips hydrated throughout the day and to stop the lipstick from cracking.

This product works well with : Cherry Lip Pencil and Prep+Prime Lip Primer.

Fashion Legacy Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick

(€22.00)

This is my favourite classic red lip colour to wear. It’s beautiful paired with a natural eye, or bold winged liner and lashes for a more dramatic look.

This product works well with : Cherry Lip Pencil and Prep+Prime Lip Primer.

Carnivorous Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick

(€22.00)

Anybody who knows me, knows I love a dark bold lip from time to time. This is always my number one lipstick that I reach for if I’m feeling adventurous and dramatic. It’s a beautiful deep burgundy red with cool undertones, and next to my fair skin, looks quite striking which I love! I usually wear this with Give Me Sun! as an eyeshadow paired with mascara and a set of lashes.

This product works well with : Burgundy Lip Pencil and Prep+Prime Lip Primer.

True Brunette Fluidline Brow Gel

(€21.00)

I adore this brow gel so much! The formula is super creamy and it’s so easy to use, easy to build up for a bolder brow and doesn’t budge once it has set! A little goes a long way too, which is a huge plus! I use this every singe day and I’d be lost without it. Used with the 263 Angled Brush, it’s easy to create natural looking brow hairs.

This product works well with : 263 Angles Brush and Clear Brow Set.

Hyper Real Glow Palette

(€42.00)

This should be a staple product in everyone’s makeup collection. There are four palettes to choose from and each one has a selection of three highlighters. I switch between the two original Pink and Gold palettes, but lately I’ve been reaching more so for the Pink. I use the lightest shade as an inner corner highlight most days to finish off my eye look, the middle shade to highlight the highest points of my face and I’ll often sweep the darkest shade over my lid to add depth to whatever eye look I’m wearing. I would definitely opt for the Gold palette when wearing tan as the undertones compliment a more bronzed look so well! These palettes are also super pigmented and easy to build, so you can get anything from a natural sheen to a dramatic glow.

Strip Lashes in Style #36

(€14.00)

Those of you who know me, know that I wear these lashes EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I even have a stock pile in my room to make sure I never run out. They have a super thin band which I love because I find it so difficult to mould and fit thick banded lashes to my eye shape. They give a natural look with added length to my lashes and they really do finish off any makeup look. I love to wear them with more dramatic eye makeup too because they don’t hide the look behind them, but have that length that adds a hint of glam. I get between 7-10 wears per pair, depending on how well I look after them, so for those of you who only wear lashes when you’re going to events etc., they will last you a long time!

That’s it from me today! Thanks for reading, and let me know in the comments what your favourite products are!!! – S.G. x
